This assessment task requires you to be familiar with the various formal early childhood education and care contexts in Australia. It will be valuable for you to know and understand these requirements of each of these care types not only while on professional experience in this unit, but throughout your teaching career.

Kindergarten in QLD
An approved Kindergarten program is an optional, play-based program meant for children above the age of 4 (till 30 June of enrolment year). This program will assist the child in the better beginning of the learning journey and prepare children for school (Kindergarten programs, 2019).
Management and ownership models
The management model in child care may be Regulatory authorities, director, educator and assistants. There are nominated supervisor, coordinators and experienced and qualified educator (National quality framework, 2018; Queensland Government, 2021).
How funding is obtained
An approved service provider may obtain funding from the Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme (QKFS) (Funding requirements, 2019).
Staff qualifications
Early childhood qualifications comprise; Certificate III level qualifications, Diploma level qualifications, and early childhood teaching (ECT) qualifications.
For 25 children, there must be full-time or full-time equivalent or ECT in attendance for 6 hours daily for 50 or more weekly hours or 60% of the time, when weekly working hours are less than 50 (Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority, 2021).
The ratio of adults to children
The educator to child ratio should be 1:11.
The critical roles of the educator
The regulators do not specify the roles or responsibilities of an educator. Some general roles of educators are leading to learning and development, wellbeing, health, education and care of children. Educator also interacts with the families and delivers services as per national standards (Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority, 2021).
How quality is assessed and rated
As per national quality standards in the seven quality areas and individual rating is for every category, the overall rating is found (National quality framework, 2018).
Long Day Care
Long day care services provide care and education for children from birth to 12 years, and these services are suitable for working parents. Services offer part-time or full-time care before school, after school and vacation (Long daycare, 2019).
Management and ownership models
Long day care services should meet the management model according to the regulatory agency (NQF). Some other nominated designations include supervisor, early childhood educator, and early childhood teacher (Queensland Government, 2021).
How funding is obtained
Every long day care service contains its own fee structure. Long day care receives funding from QKFS to support the kindergarten program (Early Childhood Education and Care, 2021).
Staff qualifications
The NQF decides the minimum qualification of the educator to work with long daycare. Educators should have a qualified diploma or higher qualification, certificate III level, and early childhood teacher (ECT).
For 25 children, the ECT may be full-time or equivalent full time or should have attendance for 6 hours daily if operating 50 hours per week or if the weekly work hours are less than 50, it must be 60% of the time (Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority, 2021).

Family Day Care
Family day care is an approved child centre meant for child development by providing superior early learning quality in the educator's home setting. Family day care offers care and education to in family learning environment.
The family day care home provides professionals with an opportunity to develop their educational programs focused on the child's interests and requirements through maturing bonds (Family daycare, 2019).

How funding is obtained
The community support program provides financial support for the operational expenses made by family day care services.
The staff qualifications for
Qualification of educator under regulation 127 must hold III level certification and a recent first aid approval (Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority, 2021). Additionally, under regulation 136(3) should have approved asthma, emergency and anaphylaxis management training certificate (Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority, 2021).
As per educator assistant qualification, they must hold the registration of family daycare service.
The ratio of adults to children
The educator children (3-4 years) ratio in family day care is 1:7 (Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority, 2021).
The key roles of the carer in the family day care home
The educator is responsible for providing education and care to the children in their own home as a family daycare centre beneath the management scheme of government, private or community (Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority, 2021).
The educator assistant assists the educators in providing child care and education and the absence of educator responsible for transporting children.
How quality is assessed
Family daycare services are assessed as per national standards and as per the new system for the quality rating (Family daycare, 2019; National quality framework, 2018).
Outside School Hours Care (OSHC)
The development of Outside School Hours Care Provision is to provide support to the school councils, principals, and staff among services of Outside School Hours Care (OSHC). It has been planned to overview permissible requirements and regulations in the National Quality Framework (NQF) and chief information to deliver and support quality services (The education state, 2017; Queensland Government, 2020).
Management and ownership models
The main objective is to support the schools in decision-making to develop an OSHC service and overview two operating models: School council managed, and the third party managed (The education state, 2017).
How funding is obtained
Australian citizens or permanent Australian who are enrolled receives free instructions and facilities at schools. The Queensland Government is also providing allowances for eligible students like textbooks, school transport, home expenses who live away from home etc. However, principals of school can charge fees or accept a voluntary contribution from parents to offer additional resources to the students, like art material (Queensland government, 2021).
The staff qualifications for
As per the Queensland government, an educator working in an OSHC should have either a two-year relevant diploma or a 1-year certificate of level III (Queensland Government, 2020).

The key roles of the educator
Diploma holding educators have responsibilities in planning and delivering education programs, along with managing finances and administrative activities. Whereas, certificate holder perform along with the coordinator for planning and delivering OSHC services and educational program (Queensland Government, 2020)

OSHC is assessed as per National standards policy and rated for every category, and an overall rating is given (National quality framework, 2018).
