Georgia Institute of Technology


Georgia Institute of Technology was established in 1885 under the plan of reconstruction to create an industrial economy within the post-Civil War Southern USA. Initially the institute offered only a degree in engineering science, however, by 1901 the curriculum was expanded to include electrical, civil and chemical engineering as well. Currently, Georgia Tech is organized into six colleges and includes about 31 departments focused on science and technology through well recognized professional programs.
