Introduction

This report aims towards illustrating the knowledge I gained and what skills I possessed to succeed at University. It will also include what study techniques can be used to make the system's best advantage. In this regard, I will include three of the major skills that I learned in class. These will include time management skills, teamwork skills, and presentation skills. For this purpose, this report will present an overview of all the skills I mentioned and discuss how they helped me develop as a student and individual. Lastly, this report will conclude by presenting a framework of SMART goals below in the appendix.

Skills Analysis

Time management skills

Time management is found to be playing an essential role in a student’s life. It is a process that helps people manage their tasks and schedules more comprehensively (Hafner and Stock, 2010). In this regard, it has often noticed that students ignore doing essential tasks on a priority basis and, as a result, miss out on their opportunities to gain significant knowledge and experience during their academic journey. Thus, having time management as a major skill helps people and student manage their time more effectively (Meiring, 2017). While I was in the middle of my academic journey, I started acknowledging the potential of prioritising my daily tasks. As a result, time management helped me manage my studies schedule and the other co-curricular activities. Being in the process for about the next six months, I developed myself as a better human being who wakes up early in the morning and follows a healthy lifestyle. My time management journey included all the slots for my studies, job, and other essential parts of life. It even included a part where I was able to spend quality time with my family. Still, I struggle prioritising some of the sudden tasks, and I am following a time table and journaling to improve my skill to manage and utilise my time more effectively.

Teamwork skills

Teamwork is perhaps considered an essential part of life. It helps both the students and individuals working in an organisation. In this regard, teamwork skills enable people to participate with the other teammates in a group (Britton et al., 2017). This helps in processing better outputs and dignity as a wholesome. As a student, having teamwork skills plays a vital role. Working in group projects and being a part of several self-help groups, I feel socialising with teamwork skills helps the student become extrovert and seek more opportunities for collaborations (Lau et al., 2014). While undergoing my project and group study orientations, I played an essential role as a navigator who provided direction to all the essential tasks. The decisions were made by consulting with every other student of the group. As a result, our team performed significantly well and gathered relevant acknowledgement as well. I have also developed teamwork skills in my studies while participating in various sports such as cricket and football. However, I lacked managing the flow of communication between the team members. This is the only area that I am currently working to improve myself—for this purpose, having two-way communication with effective feedback might work. Finally, acknowledging teamwork skills also increases the potential of becoming a leader for the future group.

Presentation skills

Presentation skills are considered the trait that helps deliver effective and engaging presentations to the audience available in front (Emden and Becker, 2016). It includes various factors such as the structure, design, and tone of voice during the presentation. Having presentation skills helps student reflect themselves as better host. It also improves various other communication skills, interpersonal skills, gesture-oriented skills, and tone and pitching skills (Grez et al., 2012). While working on our project in the middle of my academic journey, I used to give various presentations in front of my educators and teachers.

Moreover, I used to practice presenting the slides in front of a mirror as well. This helped me overcome stage fear and have also helped me communicate effectively with the audience. Gestures are always treated as an essential part of life as it reflects our emotion and perseverance in front of people. However, I need to work on my deliverables, which is the only area I lack confidence in currently. For this purpose, I will seek help from social media and YouTube and start learning advanced public speaking skills.

Conclusion

To conclude, this report aimed towards illustrating the knowledge I gained and what skills I possessed to succeed at University. In this regard, the report has included three of the major skills that I learned in class. These included; time management skills, teamwork skills, and presentation skills. While having effective teamwork skills, I still struggle to prioritise some of the sudden tasks, and I am following a time table and journaling to improve my skill. Similarly, while having potential teamwork skills, I lack managing the flow of communication between the team members, which is the only area that I am currently working on to improve myself. Lastly, in presentation skills, I seek help from social media and YouTube and start learning advanced public speaking skills.
